LA CENERENTOLA

by Gioachino Rossini

Produced by VANCOUVER OPERA

"For Rossini’s take on the Cinderella story, director

Rachel Peake has created a vital, engaged staging, swiftly paced and full of comic verve and what seems authentically Italian buffoonery. Indeed, she has done her job so well that it can be difficult, while you are laughing so hard, to remember that these are killer vocal parts being sung exquisitely."

- David Gordon Duke, The Vancouver Sun

"Perfect casting, insightful yet genuinely funny direction by Rachel Peake, witty acting and above all, brilliant singing throughout added up to nearly three hours of irresistible, effervescent fun."

— Robert Jordan, Opera Canada

— Colin Thomas, colinthomas.ca

"Working with visionary director Rachel Peake the trio created Hyperlink, an exploration our digital world where anonymity can make us callous, and where a lack of veracity can lead to lies...Peake keeps the stage alive with movement"

the mark....

The perfect production of a perfect opera"

— entertainmentvancouver.com

Combining sublimely beautiful music, social commentary, deviousness and delight, Mozart's matchless Le nozze di Figaro is funny, tender and profoundly human. The beloved story of mistaken identities, lecherous masters and a couple who just want to get married is as deliciously hilarious now as it was in Mozart's time.

TROUT STANLEY

By Claudia Dey

Produced by PERSEPHONE THEATRE

"Director Rachel Peake makes the balance between wacky and profound look deceptively natural. The comedy dovetails into reality because the characters have no idea they’re funny... no detail is overlooked in this crooked smile of a play."

                                        — Cam Fuller, Saskatoon Star Pheonix

This play is a quirky, adult fairy tale about Sugar and Grace Ducharme, a pair of seriously messed-up, non-identical twins. Playwright Claudia Dey imagines a different kind of love triangle when Trout Stanley appears, changing their family dynamic forever.
